3 Days After Surgery

He looks better than he did yesterday! The yellow tube in his nose is a NJ tube which will be used to start his milk doses tonight. They want to do this to get his intestines going again and slowly work up to larger amounts of milk each hour. They did try to bottle feed him today and it went ok but not great. He does great with the sucking, but does it too quickly, and then he will spit it back up. They are going to do a swallow test on him tomorrow to see what is causing the reflux. This is totally normal with babies that have not been bottle feeding for a long time. Please pray that Reed will learn how to bottle feed and keep the milk down. The bandage on his neck is where a tube was taken out today. One less tube!!!
He is doing a good job coughing on his own which will help strengthen his lungs. They are very pleased that he does this himself instead of them having to suction his lungs out. He got a little cold tonight so they put some heat lamps on him. Reed thought the light was too bright in his eyes so he decided to wear his KU hat since his UK hat has not arrived. Thanks Uncle Zach for my hat but I would really like a UK one!!!
Don't I look like such a big boy! I am already two and a half months old!!!
Please keep praying for me, specifically that:
1)my new heart will continue to grow stronger
2)my body will continue to accept this new heart
3) I will be able to bottle feed and keep the milk down
4)I will keep getting stronger and stronger every day!
Thank you!!!!

Ryan and Keeley,
We are the crazy Mississippi people that have Isaac. He is looking so good! I cry everytime I start reading all the great things that continue to happen to Baby Reed. He is so precious! Coming from someone who has had a baby with a heart problem, hold Baby Reed as much as you can. They grow up way too fast! We love the name Reed, we have a son named Tristan Reed. If we can be of any help please let us know.

Reed looks wonderful!! Dennis and I have shared y'alls story with our friends at work and we have so many people praying for you all!! Dennis found out last night that there are some FedEx truck drivers that have a prayer blog site!! Reed is listed on the site and the guys have lifted up the donor family also. it is so wonderful to know that there are people everywhere praying for the same things!! Thank you God for giving these Doctors and Nurses the abilities they have to help Reed and so many other children and people!! I hope to see you Saturday at Vandy!! Love you all! Sara

Ryan and Keeley,
My heart is overcome with joy for you this morning. I have been out of the loop for the last few days and just now checked the blog It was just the news I needed this morning. God will truly answer our prayers if we will only give it all up to Him. Words cannot express the overwhelming joy I have for what God has done for us.

Your daily blog helps us all experience the journey with you. I don't think an hour goes by without a prayer on my heart for Reed. I can't get over the daily progress. What a miracle! God must have a very special plan for him. I am ready to come see him again. He looks great and is such a tough little guy. I heard that Brittney Cover is ready to come back from Guatamala to take care of Reed!!! Hope to see you all soon. Meanwhile, I continue to pray for him and for you all.

From the heart,
Suzanne

WOW... he looks so much better!! He doesn't look like the same baby. We'll pray for an EATER! Owen has always had feeding issues, but it's mostly because he still has 1/2 a heart and he tires out. Post transplant they usually do pretty well.... so I hear.

Mr. Reed... show us how it's done.

Glad to see things are moving along quickly.

Reed looks great! I don't know about all that blue though - KY or KS - I personally think orange would put a smile on his face! Still praying.
