Too Much Time

Well, I guess I have way too much time on my hands since I have painted twice this week. I really don't but this gives me an excuse to put off house work!
I cannot take full credit for this idea. I saw something similar to this on-line. However, I tried to 'make it my own.'
I am posting these pictures to maybe give you some ideas to try yourself. Since I don't have kids to post about, I have to get creative!!

I started with a blank cabinet door and painted WHITE for the background part of it.

The next thing I did was paint a lot of scroll work designs in 'coffee bean brown' around the border.
I then dry-brushed white over the entire cabinet door. (You can notice the white 'lines' going through the scroll work) This makes it look a little older and not so loud.
Next, I wrote "This home is filled with love and laughter" over our last name.

This is the final product, but I haven't found a place to hang it yet:-)

My Hobby

One day while I was at the Habitat for Humanity Home Store, I saw cabinet doors. I racked my brain trying to think of what to do with these doors. For some reason, I decided they would make a great canvas to paint on! I really enjoy doing these for my friends and family.

Here is a picture of baby Will Adams' nursery bedding. These are the colors that I decided to go from to paint his wall hanging.
This is what the cabinet doors look like before I paint. I love these particular doors because they are some what antiqued (sp?). This cabinet is solid wood and about 4 feet x 2 feet. I began painting a harlequin print for the background in a cream color. Notice that I do not take the time to make them a perfect diamond shape!
Next, I painted the outside border a green that will hopefully match with his nursery.
This is the first coat for his name. I tried to make the font look more boyish because most of the signs that I have done are for little girls!
After the first coat dried, I painted over his name again. I still thought something was missing so I painted some blue dots on the corners of the diamonds.
For the last step, I wrote the following verse around the outside border:
"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made." -Psalm 139: 13-14
Amanda, I hope this verse is okay. I cannot wait to hang this in his room!

Ski Trip

Well, we just got back from Keystone Colorado. We had a great trip and a lot of skiing over 5 days. The weather was great except for Sunday which was freezing! On Saturday night, we went to a fondue restaurant on top of the mountain. The first picture is from the gondola ride up the mountain. It was sooo cold but it helped by having 6 people in the gondola and they also give each person a blanket on the way up. The course consisted of cheese fondue, caesar salad, your choice of two meats and then the best part...turtle chocolate fondue!! Us, the Terrys and the Willefords. The Crawfords were missing because Martha Lynn came down with the flu and altitude sickness. She was not able to ski until Monday so she missed 3 days of skiing. This was Ryan and I at Arapahoe Basin, also known as A-Basin. This is the mountain where locals go skiing. This place was beautiful and is only about 5 minutes from Keystone!
This was our last day of skiing. We decided to go to Breckenridge for the day. Breck is about 30 minutes from our condo. This was probably my favorite place to ski out of the 3...probably because the blue runs were easier here! Time to go back to the 'real world'! We had a great time all week but it is also nice to be home. Thanks to the Willefords for inviting us on such a fun trip!

Birthday and Super Bowl Parties

Saturday, we celebrated Hailey Story's birthday. I cannot believe that she is now 1 year old! She got tons of cute gifts. I bought her a stroller which she seemed to love. I only knew to buy this since some of my friend's girls (Amanda and Natalie) love pushing a stroller around the house. I figured this would be a good thing since she is taking those first steps. I also made her little outfit and I think that it looked really cute on her. That is the first cupcake dress that I had done for a birthday.

On Sunday night, we went to Mark and Melinda McInteer's home for the super bowl. They actually bring the big screen tv out on the screened in deck to watch the game. Well, since the game stayed 7 to 3 for the longest time, the girls decided to start doing old school hair styles.
