A Day for Hearts

February 14th means Valentines's Day for most of the world but this day will always have a different meaning for our family. It is observed as 'A Day for Hearts - Congenital Heart Defects Awareness Day.' The one thing that I would like to make people aware of is how important it is to be an organ donor. I never thought about this until little Reed came into our lives. I mean you cannot take your organs with you to heaven so you might as well leave them behind and give someone else a chance at life. It is still so amazing for me to think about some family's decision to allow their son's heart to be given to our son. I will never be able to truly express my gratitude to the donor family and how their decision gave Reed life!!! If you would like to sign up, you can go to http://organdonor.gov/ and click on 'Be a Donor'

Tomorrow is hopefully the day that Reed gets to come home!!! I still will not believe that he is coming home until we walk out of Vanderbilt and into our house. I hesitate even telling this until he is home because he could still pull something on us and have to stay a little longer! I sit here almost in tears just thinking about being able to bring little Reed home. It has been a long 94 days and we are so ready to have him home with us. These past three months have taught Ryan and I so much. God has truly taught us that we are not in control and that we must have complete trust in Him! Our boys are God's sons that He has allowed Ryan and I to help raise. We cannot wait for this journey with our family of four!

I will post pictures tomorrow when our complete family gets home....that is, if I have time!!!

Oh, I hope Reed comes home tomorrow, Keeley! Thanks for reminding us all how important it is to be an organ donor... I have always signed the back of my driver's license, but I didn't know about that website. I'll pass the word.

I am crying--this is great news! Have fun with these little guys--two things we can count on: God IS in control and there will never be a dull moment at your house from now on. Enjoy. Love, the Schwieger's
